Argraves Laboratory Group Members - Argraves Laboratory

Current Group Members, Alphabetical Listing.

Obie Aseem

Obie Aseem is an M.D./Ph.D. student. His research project focuses on determining the role of cubilin in HDL homeostasis and involves the use of mice conditionally deficient in cubilin expression.

Jamie Barth

Jamie received his Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the University of Georgia in 1995. He is currently evaluating the capacity of megalin to influence signal transduction mediated by the morphogen sonic hedgehog. Jamie is also using using DNA microarray analysis to characterize the profile of genes expressed during embryonic blood vessel formation.

Marion Cooley

Marion received her Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from University of South Carolina in 1996. She is currently involved in the development and characterization of mice with targeted deletions of the fibulin-1 gene.

Cindy Gittinger

Cindy obtained a Bachelors of Science degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg Virginia. Cindy manages the Argraves Laboratory and works on a number of research projects including studies of the function of megalin in craniofacial development.

Victor Fresco

Victor received a Masters degree in Neuroscience from Syracuse University in 1999. He is currently a graduate student in the Health and Rehabilitation Sciences program. His research project focuses on determining the molecular basis for the severe cardiac abnormalities that occur in mouse embryos deficient in the extracellular matrix protein fibulin-1.

Keerthi Harikrishnan

Keerthi Harikrishnan is a Ph.D. student in the Molecular and Cellular Biology and Pathobiology (MCBP) program. She received a Bachelor's Degree in 2007 from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Rajasthan, India. Her research project focuses on defining the roles of fibulin-1 splice variants in proteolytic activation of growth factors.

Saurin D. Jani

Saurin received a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology in 1998 from Gujarat University, India. He obtained a M.S. in Computer Science in 2003 from Monmouth University, NJ. Saurin is currently involved with analysis of DNA microarray data as well as the development of web-based DNA microarray data analysis pipelines and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

Sandra C. Klatt

Sandy received her Bachelor's Degree from the College of Charleston in 1987. She is currently working on characterizing the influence of megalin on sonic hedgehog signaling and characterization of mechanisms of regulation of megalin/cubilin-mediated endocytosis.

Erin L. Pardue

Erin L. Pardue is a Ph.D. student in the Clemson-MUSC Joint Bioengineering program. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Biosystems Engineering in 2006 from Clemson University. Her research project focuses on determining the role of fibulin-1C expression in cardiac valves.

Waleed O. Twal

Waleed received his Ph.D. in physiology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1993. Waleed's research focuses on elucidating the function of fibulin-1. He is working on several related projects including, characterization of a new splice variant of fibulin-1, characterizing the profile of gene expression influenced by fibulin-1 splice variants and determining the significance of the fibulin-1-versican interaction to cardiac development.
